Context

Over 95% of Canada's surface was covered by Pleistocene glaciers. The use of indicator minerals in glacial sediments is particularly important for the vast areas of the country that have been shaped by glacial processes and are the focus of increasing interest for their vast mineral resource potential. Gold deposits are an important exploration target for the mineral industry. The development of new methodologies using indicator minerals will provide new tools to promote the discovery of new mineral resources. The methods to be developed will rely primarily on the surface shape and texture, mineral association, and chemical and isotopic composition of selected minerals.
